We are veteran owned and operated non-profit organization that offers suicide prevention training, workshops, and special events for community, faith, and family leaders.
Elizabeth Ann Mattera was only 15 years old when her life was stolen by suicide - her sudden and violent passing was the sixth loss in one family from suicide and self-harm.
Elizabeth was a kindhearted friend who genuinely cared for those around her and whose warm smile and robust sense of humor would light up the room. Her passions were art, reading, or simply spending time with her family – she especially loved to play video games with her little sister and watch movies with her mom and dad.
“We watched our little girl disappear before our eyes; her lighthearted innocence and bright demeanor was slowly overtaken by darkness and despair through dangerous themes and messages; negative information which exploited vulnerabilities, leading to a devastatingly irreversible outcome."
Suicide is not a simple problem. Instead it is a Problem Set: the fatal outcome of several critical factors coming into deadly alignment. One of these critical factors is the information we regularly consume - our Informational Diet.
Since 2007, suicides have horrifically risen nearly 60% amongst youth and young adults - a deadly trend which tracks parallel along the rapidly progressing advances in information delivery systems, i.e. Internet Accessibility, Smartphone Functionality, and Social Media Engagement.
We aim to show how information is the primary element of influence on our thoughts, behaviors, and patterns of life - all of which are part of the health and well being of an invisible yet very real part of us all - The Human Mind.
